Lois: My first impression: “Damn, that’s big.” Most clit suckers are about palm size — need I mention the Rose again — but this bad boy is the size of my entire hand.

While its banana shape might not make it the prettiest toy you’ve ever seen, it does mean it curves beautifully to your body and makes it easy to hold onto.

Sophie: Having been lucky enough to trial a trio of Womanizers, I was pleased to see the brand hadn’t scrimped on the additional extras. That cotton storage pouch promised to keep it disguised when thrown in my hand luggage this summer, and the addition of a second head gave me hope this would work for my anatomy.

The sucker itself looks fairly similar to the Premium 2, the main differences being a little extra length and a few more buttons. My only concern was that I’d have to break away from my usual routine of immediately discarding the quick-start guide and diving straight in.

Our first foray

Lois: The designers insist the Next is silent, and I am amazed by how quiet it is when you first turn it on. However, as you move through the settings and up the intensity, it does get louder. Not enough that your roommates might hear, but it isn’t completely silent as promised.

Okay, let’s get down to it: what is it actually like to use?

The Next comes with a larger ‘mouth’ than most clit suckers — as well as a second, even wider mouth that you can swap it out for — which hugs your clit and hood without pinching, or feeling like your clit is at risk of popping (if that’s your thing though, more power to ya).

Sophie: Testing the lowest setting on the palm of my hand, I couldn’t feel much. I reminded myself that’s not necessarily bad — some like it slow and steady. But once I amped up the action and placed it downstairs, I was still left wanting more. So, if it’s a slow and gentle wander to the finish line you’re after, this is absolutely the toy for you.

When working through the 14 modes I favoured a higher pace and medium-level depth — pleasurable but not too intense to risk numbing my clit. In terms of what it feels like, I wouldn’t say it’s especially like oral — it doesn’t feel like a tongue circling my C-spot, but rather a vibrator rippling against it.

After 10-ish minutes, I started to feel that familiar fluttering sensation rising up my thighs. Usually, once at this point, it takes me less than a minute to orgasm, but this time there was another five or so minutes of edging before I ‘finished’.

Final verdict

Star FillStar FillStar FillHalf StarStar

Pros

  • A luxe answer to a solo night in
  • We like options, and this offers plenty
  • That shape follows the body’s natural curves, making it comfortable to use and hold

Cons

  • Not one for the impatient — or those less fond of edging
  • A few too many buttons, and they’re almost impossible to differentiate with the lights off
  • That magnetic charging cable has a tendency to go rogue (or in the opposite direction)

Lois: Unlike other clit suckers, the Next feels more like a puckering sensation than a sucking and the larger mouth means the feeling is a bit gentler than some other clit suckers.

For me, the Next is def more of a masturbatory foreplay toy than it is the main event, but that isn’t a bad thing: using multiple toys in a solo sesh feels boujie as hell.

Sophie: As a proud pessimist, I wasn’t expecting much from a toy that claimed to bring on “intense, intuitive multiple orgasms”. We all know that for most vulva owners, this isn’t always guaranteed and relies on various factors, including sleep, stress, and how self-aware I’m feeling on that occasion.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Next. I wouldn’t say I was blown away or totally devoted (no planning a loyal life of just me and my Next), but I can confirm that I was left feeling satisfied.

Again, it’s definitely for those who enjoy edging or a softer approach to self-pleasure and a slower pace — perhaps it’ll help me work on my patience — but as a woman who likes options, it’s one I’ll keep in my collection.
